Throttle body coolant reroute.

Recommended Posts

Ive seen a lot on the vortex about this, basicaly its a case of removing the two coolant pipes that go to the throttle body and joining them together. This has the effect of the coolant not heating the throttle body meaning slightly cooler air to the engine giving a small, but noticable power increase.

Anyone tried it? Im tempted to give it a go but want to hear if anyone has heard anything negative on this first.

I think the carbon canister takes measurements from the throttle body temperature in order to perform it's function properly. The coolant channel also prevents throttle icing in the winter as the VR6 has no warm air feed from the exhaust manifold. By all means try it and see what happens!

Throttle icing?

Id sort of forgot about this thread, no one had replied so thought it probably wasnt worthwhile. May give it a go at some point, probably when I get round to removing the carbon can.
