biggerbigben 0 Posted February 25, 2005 Hi all, I'm looking at a Golf mk4 tdi 115bhp tomorrow and wanted to ask if VW ever did a special edition ABT kit for them as the owner is telling me that it came from factory with the following: ABT 17" wheels, ABT Side skirts, ABT front splitter ABT rear lower spoiler ABT back box.... Does anyone know as I'm looking at the car tomorrow morning early! Sort of really need to know tonigh   The reason I ask is to do with insurance... Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 28, 2005 A bit late but the ABT stuff was the real McCoy and fitted at selected dealers or approved garages....and it wasn't cheap stuff either! Your little list was a few K's worth. I've been round castle coombe in an ABT fettled MK4 TDI and it was giving a lot of the petrol cars a hard time :D One thing I noticed was the standard v ABT power delivery. Standard power cuts off abruptly at about 4000 rpm but on the ABT, it just kept going into the rev limit  I dunno what they did to it but it was a great car. That was in 1999, not sure what they're up to these days.
biggerbigben 0 Posted February 28, 2005 didn't realise they messed with the engine??
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 28, 2005 The one I went in had some engine tuning done. The ABT rep was a bit shadey about the exact details but said it was "More than just a rechip job..." Certainly felt quick round the track and revved like no diesel I've driven.
