martyjmcfly 0 Posted May 5, 2005 Hi all, the time has come to replace the sometimes slipping starter motor. I've tried my best to aquire info on the best approach but have failed due to non compliant bentley cd etc. Any info would be good i.e can you do it from the top or is it best from the bottom oooh errr. Is it something an muppet can do or should i get my mechanic to do. Cheers Martin
geordiedubber 0 Posted May 5, 2005 Simble to do yourself : Disconnect battery, Disconnect wires from starter one a plug other held on by nut (13mm I think), Remove the two bolts (agin 13mm I think)holding the starter on may be easier from under the car with an extension bar, once bolts are removed starter should come free. still quite fresh in my memory... :)
Rpmayne 0 Posted May 6, 2005 Not sure but don't you have to support the engine because the starter motor bolts also hold the front engine mount? Other than that not a difficult job.
