geordiedubber 0 Posted May 7, 2005 I've just fitted a new slave cylinder to my rado but have a couple of problems, I cant select any of the top gears 1st, 3rd, 5th or reverse ??? Ive bled it using a easy bleed kit.. Also the first time I started it it was fine, But now its running like a sac of poo, Like its mis-firing, wont tick over and the odd back fire ??? Can fitting the slave cylinder have caused it to run like this ? And whats up with the gears ? Thanks for any info, The raddo is really testing me lately with all its problems, Starter, alternater, rad, rack, etc,etc.. Skimask 0 Posted May 7, 2005 G-Dub, You've either still have air in the system, or the slave is knackered! Your mis-firing problem - you may have dislodged a couple of wires when changing the slave- theres usually a few close to the cylinder.
geordiedubber 0 Posted May 7, 2005 I can now select all the gears and the clutch feels good, But I still have the mis-fire problem. I cant see any wires that have been moved in anyway, and leads seem fine. Will remove plugs tomorrow and investegate further... thanks for the help Skimask. What wires if any would cause it to run like that?
geordiedubber 0 Posted May 8, 2005  new car time me thinks ! after getting up at 7 this morning hoping the problem might have vanised (no such luck), Checked all the wires around the area and all seem fine  now have to remove the leads and go to halfrauds for some new plugs and try that. How often should you change plugs ?
geordiedubber 0 Posted May 8, 2005 New plugs in and ran the same at first, took it for a run and seemed to just about clear it still missing a little, But a couple of the leads are broken so it may be tracking out. Anouther one for the long list then... Who was it that said vw's were reliable ?
chrishill 0 Posted May 8, 2005 leads can make a HUGE difference mate, i picked up a set of ebay for £15 and it cured my previously pretty nasty misfiring lumpy engine like a charm. Still got the two leads that go through the front of the manifold to swap but i cant get in to them to change them
geordiedubber 0 Posted May 8, 2005 That'll be the two thats split on mine right pain to get off, Is there not a tool you can get to remove them ? £15 was that for new or second hand? Dont fancy paying 50+ for a new set from ecp.
chrishill 0 Posted May 8, 2005 i'm not sure if theres a tool, just some pliers with a longer nose that the ones i've got might do the trick! they were 2nd hand but look unused, not seen any others on for that price since...one off bargain! :D
