andy.b 0 Posted May 13, 2005 when driving my corrado 2.9 VR6 what temp should the temp gauge be showing? also when leaving my car standing still "to idle" or "in traffic" what tem should my gauge go up to?
dinkus 10 Posted May 13, 2005 Water (the needle) shouldn't really hit 100 Oil should be 70-120 ish
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 13, 2005 On a run, my oil sits at 94 to 96 degrees, water sits at about 80. In traffic, water slowly climbs to 100 (takes about 15 - 20 mins to get that high) and the oil creeps up to 98-100. I have a mocal oil cooler though and it was purposefully put in front of the radiator so that the fans cool that aswell as the rad in traffic. As for non-cooled VRs, you should see no more than 10 degrees above the those temps tbh.
andy.b 0 Posted May 13, 2005 sound mate, yep on a run my vr oil temp goes to about 90-92 then in traffic about 96-98. looks like its not over heating then cheers! where do you get your reading for your water temp?
dinkus 10 Posted May 13, 2005 Water temp is the needle on the dash next to your speedo ;) Oil temp is on the MFA
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 13, 2005 90-92 on a run with no oil cooler?!! Definitely not over heating mate, LOL! Some VRs run hotter than the others though, and mine (when I got it) used to sit at 114 degrees cruising at 80mph!! Begger that for a game of soldiers, so in went a mocal... andy.b 0 Posted May 13, 2005 Sorry i have been mistaken, the needle next to my speedo "water temp" shows 90-92 when on a run and 96-98 in traffic, is this okay? my oil is around 100 i think, ill check this out. i got told that the MFA is inacurate, is this true? how much is the mocal oil cooler? and where can i get one from? Neil VR6 0 Posted May 13, 2005 16VG60 (JMR) did mine for about £140 fitted. I can't remember exactly how much as I had other work done at the same time.
andy.b 0 Posted May 13, 2005 is my engine okay then if the water temp is 90-92 on a run and 96-98 in traffic?
dr_mat 0 Posted May 13, 2005 Yes. For a standard VR that's quite normal. (As the search would have shown from a hundred previous threads!! ;) )

davebirl 0 Posted May 13, 2005 yup, my water temp is about 85 cruising and 100 stopped in traffic. Oil is always around 104 degrees She has been like that for the last 2 years that I have owned her and never looses coolant either. once my thermostat stuck closed and she went up to 110degrees coolant! eek! once replaced all was well again!
