sgaites 0 Posted May 24, 2005 Following an expensive visit to the local dealer to check out a cold starting problem on my VR (see my post 'Rough Idle'), I decided to follow the advice of many on here, and get some new plugs. Replaced the Bosch ones with original NGK plats (BKR5EKU)...now it seems (so far fingers crossed) to start OK, but it misfires like crazy at high revs. Surely I don't need to gap these myself ?? Can anyone help ? Thanks Si
VEEDUBBED 0 Posted May 24, 2005 Nope, the two electrodes on the plugs come ready gapped, are the ht leads ok?,check the metal plug caps carefully for tracking against the head, have you checked the rotor arm, cap, coil tower?,Cheers,Andrew.
Supercharged 2 Posted May 24, 2005 Yeah - sounds like you have a dodgy lead thats just been made worse by changing the plugs... Also try the water mist spray trick on the coilpack for signs of arcing.
sgaites 0 Posted May 25, 2005 I should have elaborated....the leads were new in August 04, Magnecourt ones that Stealth put on during the engine rebuild....
