how can i tell between a 2.8 & 2.9 vr

stupid question apart from horsepower, but is there any notice-able difference between the 2.8vr and 2.9vr, by just looking around the engine bay?

one has the code AAA which is a 2.8 and the ABV is a 2.9 as seen only in the Corrado, these codes are stamped on the block

ah but it could be a bored out 2.8 , which would then be a AAA 2.9 :-)

 

this does happen quite often

there's a sticker near to the fuel pipes on the pulley end
