help needed

Recommended Posts

hi i have a corrado g60 and have a problem with something breaking down.

after about 50 miles driving it starts running rough missing holding back the rev counter doesnt drop but appears to be over fueling if you unplug the blue temp sensor for the ecu it will drive much better. have already tried a new sensor but didnt make any difference.

has anyone got any ideas what it could be please as it is driving me mad.

thanks

Hmmm - sounds like you need a trip to G-werks!

Unplugging the BTS puts the ECU in timing mode where the ignition timing stays fixed, its likely that another sensor is down that is affecting the timing, also could be the vac pipe going from the throttle body to the ECU (map sensor), it is critical that this pipe is 1m long!

i know that it puts the ecu in timing mode but could not drive with it over fueling.

only unpluged sensor as there was lots of black smoke coming out the exhaust

i have already replaced the vac pipe and yes it is 1m long

also done the timing, new plugs etc.

i would check all of your earth wires i think there sould be a broken one somwhere under your bonnet causing it to go into limp mode

if it was an earth wire do you think it would only do it after 50 miles of driving up till then drives like a dream?

If it doesnt start misbehaving as it hits a certain temperature and its problems seem more related to distance. Then could if be there's something wrong with your fuel pump and its playing up when its been operating for a long period of time. Or possibly your lamba is being effected by exhaust heat and failing when it gets really hot.

Welcome to the forum and goodluck! Sounds like you know your stuff!

thanks for the ideas i have ordered a lamda sensor and will see how that goes.

temp stays the same even when messing about so dont think its temp related i think maybe it is electrical

this could take some time to find so better not go to far from home

and yes i do know a bit about cars not your typical female!!!

hi guys

i have changed the lamda sensor and found that the end had been damaged. also found a broken wire from the sensor to the plug i have not had chance to go test as i have been at work but going for a long drive today to see if it makes any diference.

if not then might try the fuel pump next

thanks

hi guys

been out for a couple of long runs since changing the lamda seems to be a lot better now.

still not 100% but not overfueling so still going to keep checking things as still think there may be something else not quite right.

but and least i can drive it for a bit longer than 50 miles.

thanks for your sugestions
