i have just been quoted by Awesome GTI £1300 + VAT for the following engine work:

.Full top end re-build

 

is this worth it?

timing chains = ££££, sounds about fair, might as well ask for a quote to change the clutch too while they're at it

i had a price of £1400 for a recon vr6 engine with a 12 month warranty,not sure if that was just the bottom end though

Timing chains + Clutch £650.00 + VAT at Stealth Racing. Might give you some sort of guide.

it is a fair price for a specialist mechanic like that, it's a pretty big job.

Corrado VR6 engines aren't cheap the 2.84mo engine is much cheaper, but also much more parts required for the transplant.

I get a friend of mine to do all this kind of work anyway, much cheaper.
