Beetlebug_2001 0 Posted August 16, 2003 Hiya im going to buy a car this afternoon, ive been told it is leaking a little from the rocker cover gasket, just would like to know if this could be the result of a more serious problem, its done 131,000 miles and its a 1.8 16v please help. Beetlebug_2001 0 Posted August 17, 2003 Well turns out it had a little more oil coming out than i was told went 260miles to view a car i was told was in mint condition, and get there to find the rockercover leaking, the camshaft oil seal leaking a big dent in the sump tappets where well and truley shot (sounded like an old escort) and when i got taken out in it, it was crunching into 3rd and reverse, so i told him to forget it, the gearbox just left far to much work and would mean it'd cost more than its worth to put right even though my dad's a mechanic and the work carried out on all my cars is free, was in bromley and its white just incase u considered viewing.
