Clutch pedal clearance?

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine has a '91 Corrado g60, and when he bought it, he let me test drive it. I discovered that there is not enough room above the clutch pedal for me to engage it. I have a gimp left leg, and due to a leg brace, my ankle does not bend. This means I have to have a bit of space above the clutch pedal because I push the pedal in with the heel or middle of my foot. I have been driving stick all my life and havent run into a pedal clearance issue before. Now I am in the market for another car, and there is a very nice looking 93 corrado vr6 in my area, but I want to figure out if I can even drive the car before I go look at it. After talking to my friend with the g60, he thinks that I could possibly remove the panel under the dash to get more clearance there, but he isnt sure. Unfortunately he is a couple hours drive away and his car is in storage for the winter, otherwise I would try to figure this out on his car.

So, heres the question - if you remove the panel under the dash, how much clearance is there above the clutch? Any chance anyone could pop the piece out and take some pictures for me? Im told its only held on by a couple screws.

Any help or input would be appreciated, thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

Hmmm - the clutch itself is hydraulic so no adjustment there... removing the panel may give you enough access but the angle will still be the same i think because of the seating position / dash angle (if you follow me..)

I'll try and sort a picture out by the weekend if no one else comes up with one... I'd advise making sure you comfortable with it tho before buying a car and not just going by the photo!

Thanks for the reply! Im definately not going to buy the car without driving it first. I just dont want to schedule a test drive without having some idea if its feasible for me :)
