lindy33 0 Posted January 3, 2006 iv just replaced my front bottom arm bushes with poly ones which was a right s**t of a job, while i was doing the drivers side the driveshaft came out a bit from the gearbox, a pushed it back in but there does'nt seem to be anything keeping it in, it slides in and out quite easily ,it does'nt come right out only enough for it to dissengage the drive, any ideas would be greatly appreciated
KarmannVR6 0 Posted January 3, 2006 Did you use any force to pull the driveshaft out of the gearbox? Seems strange it just came out of the gearbox. It is held in the gearbox by a circlip on the end driveshaft flange. If the shaft came out the gearbox on its own chances are the circlip needs replacing. I not just force the flange back in. lindy33 0 Posted January 3, 2006 it seemed to come out quite easily as i had'nt noticed it was out as it had not come off the box intill i went to put the bottom ball joint back in and it was out of reach as the shaft was out a bit, it goes right back flush to the box but it can slide out without any force
PhatVR6 0 Posted January 3, 2006 give the inner cup a good whack with a hammer (don't split the boot! hit it in the face where the bolt heads sit, it'll clip back into the diff.
