timmaaah 0 Posted January 11, 2006 Ok - bit of a divvy question - how hot should the back end of my exhaust get. I've notice if I give it the berries on the way home, the exhaust smells a bit hot, and it also quite hot to the touch. Is this common, or do I have a running issue? When it's a bit smelly (!) there seems to be no noticeable difference in power etc. Any advice/your experiences would be helpful - ta! Trig 0 Posted January 11, 2006 They do get pretty hot! What do you mean 'it smells hot'?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 11, 2006 If the engine is running a tad lean the exhaust will get hotter than normal. So long as the tailpipe has a dusty black coating and not dry, white/grey deposits, all is good in exhaust land ;-) Shouldn't worry about it, the rear bank's exhaust valves can glow red hot when giving it the big un! All normal VR goodness....
