matt_corradovr6 0 Posted January 12, 2006 Any one got an idea of how much to have the rear suspension bushes replaced is?
Supercharged 2 Posted January 12, 2006 Hard to say as it depends on the condition (getting the old ones out is usually the problem) On a VR you will almost certainly have to have the rear brake bias valve cut off and replaced... (£75) Maybe 3-5 hous labour...
dinkus 10 Posted January 12, 2006 IIRC Stealth charge somewhere around £300 inc parts.
Stan 24v 0 Posted January 12, 2006 PSI will do it for around £200 ish including Powerflex bushes, iirc
Trig 0 Posted January 12, 2006 Or... do it yourself! Not an easy job by the looks of it though! :)

Colley 0 Posted January 13, 2006 Anyone had this done down in the South that they can recomend??
dinkus 10 Posted January 13, 2006 TBH, any local VW specialist should be able to do it without any issues - the rear axle bushes aren't Corrado-specific. The same style of bushes are used in at least the Mk2->Mk4 Golfs as well.
.Rich. 0 Posted January 13, 2006 I have powerflex bushes but it doesn't look an easy DIY job :/ and i dont have any proper tools :/
chargedupstorm 0 Posted January 20, 2006 I'm in the process of doing mine - well I've started the job but got the wrong Powerflex bushes sent :-( A top tip for removing the old bushes is to use a heat gun (diy type for paint stripping) I used it to remove the old ones no bother. And yes the bolts on the bias valve have sheered, but there was no way I am going to spend another £75 and replace the unit... So I hack sawed the old bolt out and I'm going to fit it the other way round, making sure it's not going foul on the brake line of course.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 20, 2006 Top tips there! I like the Powerflexes as they come in two halves IIRC, so don't need pressing in. The way Stealth get the old ones out is to drill the rubber rubber round, push out the alloy centre section, hacksaw through the metal outer ring of the bush to relieve tension and then tap it out. Takes about 15 mins a side to do that. The passive rear steer is a bit gimmicky (which you lose with the PFs) so you should feel the car is much more responsive and tighter round the bends. The standard bushes give a weird kind of dragging feel to the rear wheels when pushing it. I wouldn't mind trying Vibratechnics rear axle bushes but they're not cheap :-(

Takes about 15 mins a side to do that. Thats how I did mine, it is actually quite easy to do. Probably the tickiest bit of teh whole job is pressing in the new ones if you use oem bushes. I did this using various bits of studding and steel packers.
