quicky1980 0 Posted January 12, 2006 I found out my drivshaft is loose, near the wheel, i was wondering if this is due to the cv joint? if so should i get a vag version and how much are they. would pref to get third party version but i want the car to last. if its not the cv joint what could it be. and how hard are they to change? im pretty good with spanner just never done a cv joint thanks
Niges16V 0 Posted January 12, 2006 the driveshaft has a circlip on which is compressed slightly as it is slotted into the CV joint. this then expands back to hold itin postion on the joint. The joint is a pretty tight fit and needs a good thumping to get it off the shaft (which obviously deals with the circlip!). If you say it is loose, then it is probably the CV joint, but that also doesn't make sense as it makes a right racket when they wear. You could slide the boot off to see what is actually moving. you'll need a big jubilee clip or cable tie to secure it back again. If it is the joint, GSF do a full kit for around £50 details on fitting here http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35184
