ardandy 0 Posted January 13, 2006 Well, I'm on problem number 2 in C ownership. (Day 5) I've searched and found a few ideas but would like re-assurance with what I've already done. 2 days ago my ABS light came on when doing a short trip (from the start). Couple of hours later, on the return journey, it was fine. Yesterday it was fine. Today when I set off it came on again. When I saw it (about 100yards down the road) I pulled in, switched the engine off and started it again. This time testing the ABS by using the foot on brake pulse method decribed in the buying guide. I got a pulse and the light went off as normal. Great I thought, until 5 seconds later when it came on again and stayed on. Dirty sensor or something more expensive? It is going in for a big service on Monday so if theres anything quick and cheap I can ask my mechanic to do then what is it? Cheers!
sciroccotune 0 Posted January 14, 2006 vag com is the best way to tell, probs just a bad sensor or dirty sender ring...(hopefully not anything worse)

double-6s 0 Posted January 14, 2006 pretty normal i think mate. the abs sensor is probably a bit loose or has sh*t / water in it. mine does it ocassionally. maybe a good idea to whip it out and clean it up. doesn't sound major though mate. new sensors are about 20 squid from GSF if you need one.
