iow_corrado_g60 0 Posted January 19, 2006 hello I have a CDA airbox on my golf 8v only had about 2months use! but looks better and i guess it would keep the air cooler than my green jabba one on my c at present! will this be ok to change it other or will it affect my running/anything? Also im going to be taking out my carbon cannister out will this be fine to take out as I read they clog up after a 100,0000 miles anyway? Thanks Andy
iow_corrado_g60 0 Posted January 19, 2006 has anyone fitted a CDA induction kit to their G60?
BigTartanJudge 0 Posted January 19, 2006 Not sure if I have seen one fitted to a Corrado beforebut I know there is a recently built MK1 16vG60 that uses one belonging to G60MATT from edition38 forum, see vids below. The only thing is that due to the sheer size of the BMC-supplied ducting / cold air feed you would have to get an adapter made which bolts to the charger and expands the charger inlet aperture from the standard size to the size of the ducting. But it is possible so could give it a go ! http://www.dubforce.net/vids/g60matt1.3gp http://www.dubforce.net/vids/g60matt2.3gp Cheers Andrew and HTH
Dubcharged 0 Posted January 19, 2006 CDA are great for normally aspirated cars due to the smooth airflow track inside the box. For force induced this is not as important but you should still see a benefit. Get rid of that carbon canister and use the aperature to duct cold air from the outside. iow_corrado_g60 0 Posted January 19, 2006 will do gonna try it defo just i put it up to it the other day and its quite alot bigger in length! will update on progress its just gonna be hard to get tubing from carbon hole to get onto the front side of the CDA in the space provided
iow_corrado_g60 0 Posted January 19, 2006 sorry meant to say because end of cone faces car window if you get me?
BigTartanJudge 0 Posted January 19, 2006 Check out the video's of Matt's MK1 16vG60 and you will see the best way to position the BMC CDA filter. Basically horizontally where the heatshield sits in the engine bay with ducting going underneath the filter and up onto the rear-end of the filter housing with the ducting coming up from carbon-canister hole and onto the front-end of housing from underneath. I have a few still shots from the vid, crap quality but you get the idea which I will email you. Cheers

BigTartanJudge 0 Posted January 19, 2006 Will probably start an entire new thread with spec and pics once it's finished, still to do: > Fit front upper strut brace > Fit rear strut brace > Fit Brembo front brakes > Fit coilovers and top mounts > Fit set of alloy tanks > Fit toothed pulley kit > Fit water injection kit > Fit new chip to ECU > Rolling road set-up / tune > remove old O2A gearbox and remove VR6 clutch and lightened flywheel > Install new O2A (with LSD) gearbox with above clutch and flywheel > Install new VWM shifter mechanism > Fit uprated headlight loom > Fit chromolux rear window tints > Install new sub in enclosure / amps / 6x4's / boot floor > Get the thing MOT'd !! Fair bit still to do, all a question of time and spare cash mate !
iow_corrado_g60 0 Posted January 19, 2006 yeah defo do you do most of it yourself how do you store it? u got a garage?
BigTartanJudge 0 Posted January 19, 2006 No stay in a top floor flat and no coucil-owned garages near-by I can rent. Currently kept off the road declared SORN on a garage premises that owe me a few favours ! Can't be driven either as no chip in ECU and not MOT'd anyways. Going to be a pain in the ar5e to get moved when bits ready to be fitted ! Going to fit the strutbraces and the sub-box / boot floor but mate's with own modifying business going to fit the ICE and do the window tints for free ! Have a few mates that are time-served mechanics so they are going to fit the gearbox, pulleys, brakes and coilovers as homers but going to leave fitting the ECU chip and setting the car up to a specialist VAG tuber located about 100 miles away, mate going to get it recovered on back of a truck there for £50 !
