Ronan 0 Posted January 23, 2006 There are a load of wires and possibly a connector under my seat (only had a quick look after my mechanic mate showed me and its dark now so I'm not taking the seats out) - could these possibly be fore heated seats? My interior is a Leather one, allegedly from a Storm. What should the connectors look like, how can I check for sure, and is it an ass to wire in? Cheers. GIXXERUK 0 Posted January 23, 2006 yeah they will be for heated seats i'm sure, which arent too easy to come by, it consists of the switch ,two relays and the loom, once you get that they are easy to wire in,i did mine , toasty at this time of year :-)
ben16v 0 Posted January 24, 2006 ooh lucky boy!! i take it you have to find a switch for them now though? or do they come on with rear demister for example??
dinkus 10 Posted January 24, 2006 The heated seats have 2 rocker switches that allow you to change how hot they get. I don't think the loom itself is that complicated - just a couple of wires and relays that plug into a 12v live in the fusebox. Running the wires under the carpet is a pain in the jaxi tho... GIXXERUK 0 Posted January 24, 2006 ben16v, they have their own switch mate, different switches for early and late aswell
GIXXERUK 0 Posted January 24, 2006 dinkus, Dom the loom is simple but i would get a 2nd hand one if possible , it would be much too costly to make your own , iirc the switch is £65 +vat and the relays are £35 each from the stealers i thought my relay had died (found it was a dry joint in the end) and i couldnt get one anywhere, i was told they are specific not generic fitting isnt too bad , probably 3/4 hr ,front seats out and route under the carpet , job done
dinkus 10 Posted January 24, 2006 Ah ok, fair point about the loom. Fitting them is a pain tho (I put the loom in for my Recaros) cos you have to take the front carpet up to get the loom over the transmission tunnel which means taking the centre trim out, the side trim out, the trim under the dash out... Probably a couple of hours to do, less if you know where all the screws and clips are.
GIXXERUK 0 Posted January 24, 2006 :-) long arms and a lot of knuckle scraping saves you unscrewing things LOL
Ronan 0 Posted January 24, 2006 I see you say they are specific not generic Gixxer, but is there any other way of doing it except making my own loom? I might go put a wanted ad up for all of it, see what comes up, but I'm not paying nearly 150 quid on relays and a switch just so i can feel like I've wet myself. GIXXERUK 0 Posted January 24, 2006 lol the only other way is to wait til you see a loom 2nd hand, they do come up on ebay from time to time , if i hear of one i'll let you know
Ronan 0 Posted January 24, 2006 I'd prefer it if you paid me 149.99 (no pound sign on my keyboard - :S) and I pissed on myself...I'm not into watersports. I'll take 150 quid for being humiliated slightly...

Ronan 0 Posted January 24, 2006 Lol, trust you to bring this topic down into the gutter Dinkus, I call for you to be banned. Again. ;) Cheers mate, I'll have an ask around and put a wanted ad up later, heated seats is a cool little gimmick!
dinkus 10 Posted January 24, 2006  As GIX says, best bet is to hunt them down second hand. The relays are probably specific to heated seats, but I don't see any reason for them to be Corrado-specific. You may be able to get a goof loom and splice in extra wire if it's needed. Doesn't really solve the problem with the switches tho...
Ronan 0 Posted January 24, 2006 Nah. Might have to buy them. Bugger. Next winter then!
