mistermark 0 Posted March 9, 2006 Hi I have a 1994 (L reg) 16v 2l Corrado. Occasionally (but the occasions are becoming more frequent) when I turn the ignition the engine doesn't start. (All lights, radio etc work - it's definitiely not a battery problem. You can also here some clicking noises as relay switches go etc but not a squeak from the starter motor). Not being a very technical person (unlike many people on this forum I am not much of a DIY car mechanic so please keep replies to layman terms if poss!) I usually pop the bonnet and some random fiddling with the immobiliser wires usually enables me to start the engine (although again there is little consistency about which wires enable me to do this). A word on the immobiliser - it has been disconncected. The previous owner had 'some problems' with it (it caused the starter motor to burn out appartently) and he disconnected it. Not knowing how these things work I don't know if that means there is no way it could still affect things? As with all intermittent problems it is bloody hard to diagnose but I was wondering if anyone has heard of this problem before and can shed some light on it?! Any help very much appreciated. Supercharged 2 Posted March 9, 2006 Welcome to the forum, First off check the connections to the battery and starter motor are tight, if the ignition switch to starter solenoid connection is still going thru some alarm wiring then there could be a fault there even it its disconnected... Other things to consider are the ignition switch and the starter motor or solenoid (especially if it's a rebuilt unit from a motor factors as they only replace whats necessary to get it working again)
