dazzyvr6 0 Posted March 24, 2006 just got myself some vag-com leads from ross tech to try and figure out whats wrong with my ABS,and these codes came up 00532 -supply voltage B+ 35-00 00285 -ABS speed sensor front right(G45)35-00 00287-ABS wheel speed sensor rear right(G44)35-00 00290-ABS wheel speed sensor rear left(G46)16-00 signal outside specs 00287-ABS wheel speed sensor rear right(G44)16-00 sensor outside specs 00287 ABS wheel speed sensor rear right(G44)04-00 mechanical malfunction the ABS light first came on when i changed the rear discs about 2 years ago(cars been off the road for over an year now)but i didnt change the ABS cages,so i have now changed them but the fault is still there, ive done a search but there where no definitive answers
dr_mat 0 Posted March 24, 2006 Delete the faults and see if they come back. The supply voltage one shows up any time you disconnect the battery. The rear sensor ones show up if the car is on a rolling road. You may still have ABS cage issues, but those codes could be ancient ... It's very rare for the rear sensors to fail electrically, so I'm told.
dazzyvr6 0 Posted March 24, 2006 should of added i cleared the fault codes twice to make sure, and i do dissconnect the battery because ive got a battery drain
dr_mat 0 Posted March 24, 2006 Time to strip down clean up and refit the rear ABS cages then I'd say...
dazzyvr6 0 Posted March 27, 2006 after clearing the fault codes again, only one fault came up,after checking with a multimeter it seems like its a dead rear sensor, but which one would i need, ecp list 2,im hoping its the cheaper one http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecommerce/S ... sults.asp# just phoned vw and they want £115 and would need my chassis numbers etc before they would order me one
dr_mat 0 Posted March 27, 2006 They do rip you off on those rear sensors, it's crazy. I think VW's parts pricing is proportional to how long the item stays on the shelf. Very slow moving objects like this go for stupid money, where things they sell lots of are more reasonable.
