VR6Will 0 Posted April 6, 2006 I've read recently people have been converting their corrado 2.9 odb1 engines to the later odb2 from the 2.8, what gains are had from doing this? i know the later 2.8 odb2 engines had 190bhp, the same as the 2.9 odb1, so what would be seen from a 2.9 with odb2? i know that the maf, ecu, loom, throttle body & inlet need to be change along with a few other parts, what else needs to be considered? chrishill 0 Posted April 6, 2006 from what I gather, in simple terms, the ECU is better. I'm sure kev, trigger or one of the other ODB2 practitioners will be able to tell you more in detail.
Trig 0 Posted April 6, 2006 what gains are had from doing this? I'll let you know on Sunday.. :) Mine is being converted as we speak so I can't give you a first had opinion on how it's different TBH. Kev is the man to speak to, he's had OBD2 for a few months now and is still loving it AFAIK. From what Kev has told me I will be expecting my torque curve to peak lower down the rev range which is good. Also I know OBD2 has much less tendency to stall and is more economical. Like you say 2.8 OBD2's put out about 190 so I am hoping for a bit more power than standard as well. Basically it is more modern way of engine management and therefore better! Parts required are... OBD2, TB MAF Inlet manifold Engine Loom (Complete!) & Harness Lambda Probe Key, coil read & immob. transponder box ECU The big cost in doing it is the labour though! :) Check P34 on the Supercharged VR6 Thread. And have a look t these... http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33529& http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20801&
