mk2 golf shocks and springs on mk3?

as above guys, i have a chance to get hold of a good cheap set of shocks and springs for my mates mk3 but they came from a mk2.

 

Im fairly sure that they will fit with the right top mounts but just want to check.

edit look at it this way, do Vr6 corrados use mk3 golf spec shocks. if the do im guessing that they fit a 16v. hence mk2/mk3 are *basically* interchangable.
