dodgy brakes

i have a rado vr6 94 model

 

when i brake really hard the brake pedal feels funny and the brakes appear to lock, the pedal feels spongy and all over the place when i brake hard.

anyone had anything similar?

(the discs and pads are all new from vw)

I have black diamond brakes (drilled and grooved + pads) all round and they are still rubbish, with massuve fade.

 

Truth is if you want good brakes on a Corrado you prob need a decent upgrade.

 

Its my main gripe with my Corrado

Absolutely!

 

The VR6 is quite a heavy car with a lot of nose weight and the brakes VW chose to fit to it are no where near good enough imo. All they did was up the Master Cylinder size 1mm...wow!

 

I'd say the bare minimum a VR needs is the 288s with some decent metal and pads.

Indeed. I plan to look into this further (there are some good threads on here about it) - All down to the budget tho :(

also worth investigating your wishbone bushes, top-mounts and balljoints... if they've gone soggy, your brakes will feel all over the shop... :|

thanx for the advice

i will change the brake fluid

 

the brakes seem to work fine but when u really slam on the pedal seems to travel excessively near enough to the floor
