ardandy 0 Posted April 26, 2006 Just cleaned my engine bay (quite chuffed if I do say so myself!) and am pleased with the results. My only annoyance with it at the mo is the washer jet tank thingy. It's perfect on the outside but all moldy on the inside. How the hell can you clean inside a tank??? You can see it in the bottom pic.
Trig 0 Posted April 26, 2006 Also whilst we're on the subject of enigne bays... Anyone know where to get a nice clean & clear expansion tank so the level of coolant is actually readable! We saw a nice one on Sunday... (but forgot to ask)
Walesy 0 Posted April 26, 2006 ..Yeah, what newer cars have the same tank ? ... BTW ( I live closer to Combellecks trig   ) Looks good Andy!
VR6 South 0 Posted April 26, 2006 Try using some kettle descaler for the washer bottle, one which is suitable for plastic kettles then use a bottle brush to remove any remaining marks. Make sure it gets well rinsed afterwards. Nice work BTW.
billinjah 0 Posted April 26, 2006 aparently vinegar is good for cleaning them or just buy new they aren't much.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted April 26, 2006 For the expansion tank, just get a new one, they're not much and they're pure white, not a nice tan colour :-) Dead easy to read the level. As for the screen wash resevoir, I cleaned mine with a rag and a stick. Just dropped the rag in and wiped it around with the stick and some thinners. Job done ;-) Or again, new ones are spangly :-)
