cracked alloy wheel

Recommended Posts

Funny noise coming from the front wheel. Stopped and found a crack to each spoke around the hub around 70mm from the hub. Any ideas what caused this and if I could buy one replacement wheel? (BBS alloys)

thanks

Could be down to a damaged wheel thats got worse over time...

BBs wheels come available all the time, depending on which ones they are??? Post some pics up and we'll ahve a look...

Can't see any cracks on that pic, just a filthy wheel. Might just be the angle but is the sidewall bulging as well?

Wouldn't have thought the spokes would crack without a serious kerbing / pothole though, and if they are I would have a look on the bay and get the wheel replaced asap.

I think its worth contacting BBS direct as this sounds like a major structural failure - and you may get lucky

i would defo contact bbs as that must be structural , also i would not drive that anywhere (to to add a bit of safety there) :)

you should be able to pick one of them up on the bay quite easy.

are you on lower stiffer suspension? And have you hit some big potholes or even bumped up a kerb? If not, the BBS could have to help you out. Fleabay always have odd wheels going - isn't that off a Mk3 Golf ?

the suspension is lowered and quite stiff - I dont recall hitting a pothole.

I can't find a replacement - anyone selling four?
