Just happened to look out of my living room window this morning and noticed this parked out the front of the house.. got to be worth a picture I think! Its still there as well.. keep wondering about walking outside and snapping a picture or two :)

Heres another.. went out and chatted to my neighbour who knew the owner (the son of a fellow who lives down the road).

 

He came up and chatted for a bit, started the car and revved it - I tell you I have never heard a noise like it. You can keep your TVRs - the noise from the Aston is like nothing I have ever heard. Awesome. And when he went off up the road at full tilt.. jesus, it was LOUD.

Wow, nice capri, is it a 2.8i? Don't see many of those about nowadays, shame that Aston got in the way of the pic :lol:

Its actually a 2.8i with a Turbo Technics conversion on it.. pretty darn brutal and its up for sale at about £3000 :)

 

Always had a bit of a soft spot for that Capri - got taken out in it once and it scared the stuffing out of me.

always loved the aston

 

the gym i go to is full of rich people with amazing cars, one an aston martin vanquish, a 911 carrera gt2, ferrari 355..... the list goes on.... oh yeah and a nissan micra (old model) mmm it kicks ass :lol:

 

mr aston martin above is not the best at parking

 

if i had an aston martin id be makin damn sure the alloys and tyres were no where near the kerb!!!!

I've seen them all including ones with Kat kit, the "rattle snake" with whale tail, the 280 (last of the last in brooklyn green and gey leather) and the Tickford, which conicidently was linked to Aston Martin, but can't remember how, Anyone shed some light on this?

seemingly the tickford capri came about thru Bob Lutz(Ford of europe's boss)and AML's boss Victor Gauntlett having the idea of making a "super"-capri that could embarrass a Porsche yet rival the luxury of a Jaguar,with Ford providing the car(and initially development cash :wink: )while AM-Tickford would utilise their skills as design and manufacturing specialists to create the ultimate capri sold thru Ford dealers........however Ford pulled the plug on the project and AM tickford went it alone gaining type approval so that they could market and sell the cars themselves......tho some Ford dealers were used to sell the cars......the main mechanical modifications over a standard 2.8i capri were the addition of a japanese IHI turbocharger which upped the power from 160bhp to 205bhp and torque jumped even more impressively from 162lb/ft to a whopping 260lb/ft,then the rear brakes were changed from drums to discs and the gearbox had some additional lubrication

 

the interior had a general luxury feel to it with E/W's,leatherbound dashboard with walnut facings,sunroof and recaro's too......tho in cloth with full leather,wilton carpets and E/M's being optional extras

 

they also had GRP bodykits too which were meant to give it a drag cd of 0.37

 

when they were launched in 1983 they cost just under £15k which in turn was approx £6k more than the standard capri 2.8i

 

 

performance figures were(Autosport 17/05/84)

140mph......0-60mph 6.1secs......0-100mph 16.5secs

must have been fun for a bit of sideways action. I always liked the 280. An old boy at the end of the road had an E plate example. One of the last, bought brand new, totally mint. They sounded the mutts nutts.
