VR6Bella 0 Posted July 7, 2006 Need to replace the knock sensor on a 1991 VR6 - have been told it is one of two - brown or white - but VW cannot tell me which one it is I need - any ideas form any one?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted July 7, 2006 Need to plug it into VAG-COM and it will tell you which one is knackered, front or rear. They're not the easiest of things to see and get too either.
big_chris1981 0 Posted July 7, 2006 on a similar thread....does anyone know which one is which? vagcom was coming up with an intermittent fault on number 2 sensor...is that front or back?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted July 7, 2006 Unplug the front one (connection on the front engine mount) and rescan with VAG-COM and it'll say "No signal" on the disconnected one, then you can work out if it's 1 or 2 ;-)
VR6Bella 0 Posted July 7, 2006 Ah VW didn't tell me there was more than one! Do you know if the rear one white or is that the front one?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted July 7, 2006 I don't know mate, I've never looked at them! Roger Blassberg will know as he had to replace both of them not so long ago.
VR6Bella 0 Posted July 13, 2006 KevHeyWire - will do - Cheers! Does any one else know the torque settings for these or any handy hints / techniques for removal / replacement?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted July 13, 2006 They are very delicate, very low torque setting, 11lb/ft rings a bell.....
