Recommended Posts

hi

my 95 vr6 auto box is playing up when i put it in drive i only get 1st 2nd and it goes straight into 4th at 35mph unless going for it in kick down then i get 1st 2nd 3rd 4th ?

but if i put in 3rd i get 1st 2nd 3rd ok

i have taken it to a auto box specialist and they put computer on it and it came up with no faults on the box ?

but engine had codes

17978 p1570 engine control module disabled

00545 engine/gearbox electrical connection short circuit to earth

00513 engine speed sender-g28 no signal

have cleared the codes but they did not come back so was told to drive it and test it again in a few days

any help please as gearbox specialist said gearbox ok ? must be electrical

thanks ross

"engine/gearbox electrical connector short circuit"? Sounds like it could be the culprit to me from that description... ;)

Sometimes you can find that the ribbon connector (by the solenoids) will break. You can get a garge to fiddle around with it and try and do a repair on that part, but as far as I know it may mean a replacement set of solenoids.

Have you changed the tranny fluid? Certainly have a look at the levels and check the colour - it should be a reddish brown. The first three gears are hydraulic, the shift to fourth is a mechnical shift. You might just need to change the fluid and filter. I'd do that first and see how you get on.
