where my four leads go into my distributor, one of them has snapped what is inside at the end that meets the distributor. half of the item is in the wire and the other in the distributor. Is it a spark plug or what? how can i fix this?

Just buy a new distributor cap and some new ignition leads - shouldn't break the bank.

if you go to Euro Car Parts at least you can tell them which car & engine you have - just ask for a distributor cap and set of HT leads for a [what ever year] 2L 8v Golf... fitting's an easy job - you can pm me if you want someone on hand to walk you through it though.

Note the dealer will sell a single lead if needed but if they've not been done in your ownership then I'd buy new...

Beware of ECP leads - absolute cack...

The Quantum ones (VW's replacement) have now been re-designed and are better apparently but i've yet to try a set...
