oily plugs....!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

just got my vr back from my local vw specialist due to it running poorly, spluttering, missing, lack of power etc, anyway they have changed the spark plugs over to platinum plugs (£8 each) & showed me the old ones which were totally covered in oil & one was'nt working at all, he has advised me to get the leads changed over aswell, should i just go for the standard VAG set? And more worryingly, whats with all the oil?? am i in for a big bill imminently

Standard leads are very good mate. Magnecor are good too and available a bit cheaper i think?

How many miles on the engine?

See how long the new plugs take to oil up again - you'll feel when they get bad.

Then you'll know how serious it is. If it happens over several thousand miles its not too bad. If it's hundreds, start saving.

BBT are cheap rubbish...

VW sell Quantum leads that again are a bit dodgy but have been recently redesigned I have been told...

Corrado's came with black Beru leads which you can still buy using individual part numbers but it's hit or mis weather you get red or black ones...

VW Spares sell Beru's in kits.
