VRTrickster 0 Posted October 19, 2006 Ive just read an article on installing cams on the Puma Racing website, and it says that when you start the car you should not let it idle and keep the revs up. I'm just wondering If I may of caused my head damage due to not carrying out a bedding in procedure? Does it really affect things that much if you don't carry out the bedding in process? Reading this has concerned me a bit! http://www.pumaracing.co.uk/cam1.htm
vdubjb 0 Posted October 20, 2006 Not a huge deal. So long as they get oil, they will be fine.
VRTrickster 0 Posted October 20, 2006 Ok that makes me feel a bit better. Should I carry out the running in after putting on my rebuilt head, but with new lifters?
Roger Blassberg 0 Posted October 20, 2006 The camshaft bearings (plain white metal) should be given gentle treatment for a few hours running - say no more than 3500rpm for a couple of hundred miles. But the cams and tappets are hardened steel and should be ok right from the word "go". Best wishes RB
