560 0 Posted October 23, 2006 not so pronounced at low revs, but from 3000rpm onwards there is a loud rattle/ fast repetitve tapping. more so than a worn tappet sound. it's louder under load, but even light throttle at these rpms produces the same so i'm not sure that it's pinking. suggestions have been everything from cam chain is slack to piston slap! any ideas. did anyone find the sound clip of 'timing chain death rattle' after? many thanks. dr_mat 0 Posted October 23, 2006 Timing chains go tight above 2k rpm, you can't really hear them. Sounds more like something's loose, to me ..
