Overheating - Radiator fan not working!!

Recommended Posts

Yeah the elbow came away there is hardly any of the sheared bolt showing so doubt they will "wiggle" free but Ill spend a bit of time seeing what I can sort! That whole screw extractor thing kinda makes sense, Ill see what I can sort!

Thanks for your help.

Try heating the pump body. Use a paint gun. This will expand the thread holes and help loosen up the snapped stud.

Few things to try so thanks.

One piece of good news, boiled the 2 thermostats. The new one (after thinking nothing would happen) opened and the old one did not move, v happy with that as should solve the overheating issue!

Ill let you know how I get on with the bolts and pump!

Cool, hopefully found the problem then...

As above there a various way to get the studs out or there is a new pump pump from VW... these are cheap but you need to take the charger off to get to the bracket - maybe worth it tho if the charger is due a rebuid?

OK, the sheared bolts will not be coming off from underneath soI either need to get access to the top and remove that way or replace the water pump? Is there a thread anywhere detailing how to access/remove the water pump or could someone detail it for me (if its not to much to type?!!)

Cheers
