gixxer 0 Posted December 9, 2006 Can't believe what a sh*tty week I've had. Not only did I get laid off from work (2weeks before bloody Xmas of all times :( ) but my C decides not only to split a water hose, but also spit water out of the expansion cap, the heater stop blowing hot air & to top it all the speedo stops working. Don't you just hate VWs
markievw 0 Posted December 9, 2006 hi mate Have also been out of work since NOV 21st. Used to work Ipsen as a lab techncian on wrexham industrial estate. I actually handed in my notice to work as a team leader for eclipse scientiific as couldnt cope with 15 hours days. Where abouts did you work? Not the best time of year to be out of work I know, hopefully new year will bring better news. Good luck in the job hunt mark
Ad2408 0 Posted December 10, 2006 Really sorry to hear that mate but i'm sure it will work itself out, the car is fixable and new jobs are out there!
gixxer 0 Posted December 10, 2006 Cheers lads. Gotta be the worst time to be outta work, at least I got me son's presents sorted beforehand. Mark, I'm a painter & decorator, was working in Oswestry but boss got no work 'til Jan  . Know someone who worked in Ispen, Donna Craven, don't know if she still does though. What C do you drive mate? Gonna get my dad (mechanic) to look at the C when he gets back from Spain next week, rather buy him a few pints than pay a fortune to a garage. markievw 0 Posted December 10, 2006 gixxer-my dad is also a painter and decorator!. I was going to work with him when I left school, but decided against it. He is based in shropshire where i used to live and has worked for himself for over 25 years. Have you ever considered working for yourself? Apparently there is a shortage in the building trade. Only Donna I remember was a team leader in the production area, not sure what her second name is? Am considering selling my corrado as I have no job. It is a 1994 VR6 with only 78000 miles and full history. Leather interior and a very nice car. Dont want to sell it but unless I can find a job soon she may have to go. Problem I have is that my job is quite specialised (microbiology lab technician) so may have to move away. Where abouts in wrexham you live?
GIXXERUK 0 Posted December 10, 2006 bad news about your job mate , esp at xmas but i suppose there isnt a good time really, i nearly lost mine last year when the place burnt down :-) i'm sure you'll find something in the new year, dont worry about the car - sometimes its best to walk away and calm down for a couple of days i find ;-)
GIXXERUK 0 Posted December 10, 2006 markievw, your rado sounds sweet i wouldnt give that up easily as there arent many around with that sort of mileage , good luck with the job hunt :thumbleft:
markievw 0 Posted December 10, 2006 cheers mate have enclosed some pics, it is mint and took me over 6 months to find this one! I really dont want to let it go but if i dont find anything by end of jan then it will have to go. Though have considered working in Sainsburys! Do you know any garages you would recommend? GIXXERUK 0 Posted December 10, 2006 that is minty mate , what work do you need doing ? i do most of my own maintenance but wilsons in rhuddlan are very good , they've been doing dubs since the dinosaurs were around
markievw 0 Posted December 10, 2006 I have a mk2 golf gti as well, this needs a bit of work doing, namely rear break discs and pads(rear wheels bearings though I think these get done same time as the brakes). Needs knocking noise from front sorting, think it may be engine mount. Where are wilsons in rhuddlan, how much you think they may charge? cheers mark
gixxer 0 Posted December 10, 2006 Have you ever considered working for yourself? Apparently there is a shortage in the building trade. I live near Caergwrle on the way to Mold if you know where that is. As for working for myself I'd love to but its having the cash to get set up, van, tools, insurance etc so unfortunately got to work for other people. That C of yours looks spot on mate, be a shame if you did have to get rid. markievw 0 Posted December 10, 2006 Yes know where Caergwrle, have been to mold a few times. I live in holt not far from wrexham. My old man uses an estate car with a tow bar for the trailer. He has done quite well out of being self employed. Main problem like you say is start up costs and getting your name known. You would have to make a lot of sacrifcies intially, maybe have to sell the corrado :( . My old man has never looked back, plus its surprising how many ways there are for the self employed to avoid paying tax! :D
gixxer 0 Posted December 12, 2006 Know Holt well. Used to live down Bowling Bank a couple of years ago. As for selling the C, think the missus would kill me if I did, she loves it as much as me!! :)
