craigowl 0 Posted December 30, 2006 Possibly a novel slant on this thread. Tyres crack through age after about 5 years or so, I read, and have also seen for myself. In fact, a pair of old, but 3-4mm tread, Michelins on our 6k miles/annum Peugeot have just been replaced after my garage man pointed out how badly they were weathered/cracked due to age. The VR6 has hardly-worn Dunlop Sport tyres on it (15" 205/50) which have been on for 4.5 years. It does less than the Peug per annum. (Yes, I know we should get out more!) My question is does anyone know of a fast-wearing but reasonable tyre that would be the best investment for the C. Years ago, I got the impression that some tyres like Pirellis wore quickly but gave great driveability due to being made of soft, grippy compound.
Jim 2 Posted December 30, 2006 Hi craigowl.. probably best to read and contribute to the thread linked below. We're trying to keep most tyre discussion in one place, rather than having shed loads of threads strewn about the place. I've had to lock about 7 tyre threads in the last week or so already. http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... &start=360 Thanks.
Supercharged 2 Posted December 30, 2006 Just to add to this - the rainsport 1 would get my vote as a good all round performer, medium wear and reasonable price... Yeah - 5 years old (on the car) is about as old as tyres should get especially on a performance car but you get help them not to crack by using a silicon based tyre dressing every few weeks or after washing...
