dirtysanta 0 Posted January 2, 2007 What do you guys recommend. I wanna geta decent set of front discs that arent going to overheat or give me any brake fade. What you recomend. What sort of £££ am ilooking at. Cheers all
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted January 2, 2007 LOL....overheating and fade come as standard on the weedy stock brakes, no matter what shiney, flashy pads and discs you throw at it :-) The only way to reduce fade is to drive slower, or fit bigger brakes.
penfoldvr6 0 Posted January 2, 2007 LOL....Drive slower!!! A big brake conversion may help, but they aint cheap. you gotta be talking around £600 upwards for a set of billet 4 piston calipers alone.
steve_16v 0 Posted January 2, 2007 If, like you say in your other thread you're eventually going to charge it, then big brakes are pretty much essential. As for cost, 312 conversions are reasonably cheap, or you can spend £1.2-2K on 4, 6, or 10 pot kits. http://www.the-corrado.net/wiki/index.php/312mm_brakes
penfoldvr6 0 Posted January 2, 2007 Oh yeah its gonna need doing when the charger goes in.....unless I get a fat girlfriend to slow it down...lol
steve_16v 0 Posted January 2, 2007 lol, nice idea but unfortunately it doesn't work like that, the more weight there is the harder the brakes have to work to slow you down

chazrad 0 Posted January 3, 2007 Dirtysanta, I reckon that if you are going to go big when you charge it, then go big now. I have learnt with my car, that it is always better saving that bit longer to get what you really want rather than settling for second best and hoping that will do. Also, consider the Brembo set up that you can get from Seat that goes on the Cupra R. Not bad, a good range of pads available and decent size too. I am sure they are bigger than the 312mm off a TT...323 mm? I know Corozin on here has the setup on his car. I reckon I might go for that when I upgrade. Cheers.
