Labour time to change engine mounts?

Hi, how long should it take to change the rear engine mount? What additional charge would be for the front one?

 

Would you go for the vibratechnics on the front, OE or GSF?

A garage should be able to do both in an hour - you need to loosen one to do the other anyways...

 

On a VR6 deffo fit a VT mount, if the front breaks it's new bonnet time!

So if you were told 1 hr for the front and 1.5 hrs for the rear you would think that's too much?

you could do it yourself if you have a trolley jack, i did all 3 mounts on mine

I spoke to Stealth today about a front VT mount for my VR, lad on the phone said half an hours labour to fit it. (Although I'd do it myself)

But surely fitting a vibratronics front mount would put aditional stresses on the other mounts and speed up wear.

Yeah took me half an hour to fit my VT front mount. The same again for the gearbox mount. Rear is a little more difficult so maybe hour (havent changed this one yet, but its next on the cards)

no ,the front takes most of the movement and surely a mount that doesnt move as much as a sloppy mount will make wear slow down ?

 

the rear isnt too bad , i found the gearbox more awkward tbh , just get yourself three if poss socket extension bars then the rear is easy :-)

Massive difference in job times between on your back on the driveway and in a garage on ramps though... note to self, must dig an inspection pit in my garage...
