beeping oil light!!

Recommended Posts

when i first bought the rado about 5 months back the oil light flashed and beeped constantly until i had an oil flush and it stopped...in the last few weeks it has started doing it again and i have discovered it only happens after running the car for about 20 mins and ONLY when the revs are below 2,500 rpm, as soon as it goes over it stops..ANY ideas what this might be and how to fix it? also still getting smoke at 5,000rpm plus, could it be linked???

I have this problem sometimes, its the oil pressure senders on top of the oil filter housing, one is for below 2.5k rpm and one for above, over time the connections have become perished and so if you replace the sender for below 2.5k (as thats when it happens) it should be ok, and then whack a loaf of WD40 over it to stop water penetrating it.

You might want to search for it as wel as i might be wrong.

Robs right. had the exact same on my valver, changed both senders and cured the problem. (Actually changed them twice as i bought from GSF 1st time and they lasted a week). Definitely get them from VW. (can't help you on part numbers though sorry, although I know one is brown topped and one is white, if you ask for brown and white oil pressure senders, the stealers will know what you mean).

And if THAT don't cure it, it might be a blocked sump pickup pipe, or your oil pump...

HTH...

That sounds like moisture or water of some sort in the exhaust as burning oil is bluey, and petrol is black - you possibly have the better of the three???

Thats putting it mildly !!! I seem to have had some pretty bad luck with this C. It goes like a dream but the niggly bits keep raising their heads to put a damper on it all...lol

yeah it is, but its only 'fun' when problems dont cost you a small fortune to fix...which can often be the case...lucky i love my car!
