MoonlightBlueVR6 0 Posted February 18, 2007 Hi All Hoping you can help me out....again....! I'm worried!! I'll try to keep it as brief as possible.... Using coolant due to Headgasket issue on my 92 80,000m VR6 C. I'm off to Stealth for Headgasket and Chains (while they're in there) etc next weekend. Vince said ok to drive (100 miles) provided water temp stays reasonable. He advised bypass of heater matrix "just in case" Bypassed Heater matrix earlier and went out for a test of my work. Temp seemed ok I think and joined pipes still secure - water was 98-108 max. Oil temp hit 116 at one point but came back down again. But towards the end of my journey I got the oil warning beep followed by pretty much constant tapping. :?: :?: Tapping accompanies engine note. Sounds "asthmatic". Drove 1 mile home slowly. By the time I got home both water and oil temp had settled below 100. 20 mins then checked the oil. Muddy black sludge under oil cap and not much to speak of on dipstick. :( Is it that I have forgotten to check the oil with the constant coolant checking? Is this another symptom of the head gasket issue? My plan is to get some oil in there sharpish, hope the rattle goes away, then hopefully drive her down to Stealth. Bad idea?? Really appreciate any help..! Cheers Paul (My headgasket post for what it's worth: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=53256)
MoonlightBlueVR6 0 Posted February 19, 2007 Guess I'll just see how the oil goes down tonight...
Walesy 0 Posted February 19, 2007 I'm no expert mate, but i'd top the oil up and see if it sorts the rattling, if it doesn't then have the car towed to Stealth!

Sound advice my ham loving mod ;) I would still only do that to limp to Stealth though.
TomB 0 Posted February 19, 2007 Aye a definate limp job. If there's water in your oil, it's probably going the other way as well, and your expansion tank will be full of sludge. Top it up & take it easy. Might be an idea (of you have the appropriate level of cover) to 'break down' after 3 miles though...
MoonlightBlueVR6 0 Posted February 19, 2007 Thanks for the tips. Better check my level of cover  If you see a very clean C limping / being towed down the M6 this Saturday morning, give us a beep! Paul
