Help Needed. Spring and Shock advice.

Right, first of all, when it comes to srings and shocks I haven't a clue.

 

Got a valver and looking to lower by about 40mm. Can't afford coilovers & don't want a harsh ride. Read through the 'Suspension thread', but I'm still none the wiser. Can someone point me in the right direction?? Whats best on a budget. Are FK's any good? Found these but not sure?
