corrado9a 0 Posted March 4, 2007 Hi all. I have a 94 vr6 with a 021 906 258 AG ECU. i am going to install a schrick VGI with 268º cams and 2.5 inch exhaust. The thing is that i live in spain and here there is no much experience with these cars even more with these items, so i would like to get a chip remaped for these parts. I know the good way to do this is to get a RR remap, but here i would not know who can do it well. So the idea is to get at least a chip with a map for this parts so it will at least be better than stock. First i am not sure if the ECU has a soldered chip or it can be changed easely and second if it ispossible to get a chip mapped to be directly plugged in? Thanks a lot for the help. nocrap 0 Posted March 4, 2007 I'm fairly sure that the VR chip is not soldered and can be easily changed
dr_mat 0 Posted March 4, 2007 I think you'll be ok. The late VRs with the "CP" code number ecus (usually a coil-pack equipped car) have soldered-on chips, which means you need to de-solder it and fit a socket before you can install your modified chip, but I think the AG coded ones are already socketed. But tbh you might find you don't need to rechip it anyway. The 268 cams aren't that far off the overall flow profile of the standard ones, so within some limits the ECU will compensate using the MAF and lambda readings.
