matts 0 Posted March 21, 2007 My Storm has had problems for a while now with the ABS warning light coming on intermitently. Anyway I took it to the local main dealer and the good news is they tracked the fault to the rear ABS pump. The bad news is they want an insane amount of money to replace it - £1800 in fact. So does anyone have a second hand one they want to sell or know of somewhere in the Nottingham/Derby area I can take the car to instead? The part number is 1H26142178 and any help or advice anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. ta
dr_mat 0 Posted March 22, 2007 Every bugger has a spare ABS controller. Ring your nearest scrapyard. The ABS controller is the same as a similar aged Golf VR6 one.
Guest Posted March 23, 2007 i got 2 abs pumps sitting at home let me know how many pipes connect to it or take a pic and put it on here
matts 0 Posted March 23, 2007 Thanks for the info about the controller, but it's not a controller I need. Unfortunately I can't take a picture of the pump as the car is currently sitting in the VW garage with a blown radiator and a possible cracked head gasket. So I'm now without my storm and the bills are mounting up. It's been a very tedious month. :x Anyway I'll give them a call now and see if they'll let me have that information over the phone but it took 2 days to get the part number out of them... matts 0 Posted March 23, 2007 ok the pump has 2 pipes in and 4 pipes out apparently. In terms of the rest of the problems there's a hole in the radiator and the car has failed a cylinder leakage test. Apparently in order to fix that problem they're going to have to remove the engine and they're talking about 2 days of labour, and that's before the cost of parts to fix whatever the problem is. Marvelous...
pkripper 0 Posted March 23, 2007 You need to get your car to your friendly local VW specialist who will provide advice and service at a reasonable rate. You can probably divide the labour rate by 4 let alone parts.
matts 0 Posted March 23, 2007 I think you're probably right. Anyway the car is now with http://www.candrenterprises.co.uk/ who've quoted me a much more reasonable rate.
