Power steering sticking

Recommended Posts

When the car is first started in the day the steering sticks slightly when you turn, after a few hundred yards the symptons go and everything is normal.

I have changed the steering fluid to the recommended VW stuff but that hasn't made any difference.

What could be causing it?

Its on VR btw if that makes any difference cause I never got the same problems with my valver.

belt will be on off the shelf at halfords £ 3.20 or so an easy fix to do yourself you will need a

13mm ring spanner

13mm socket and wrench

wd40

{well thats what i needed for my 1991 1.8 16v}

once you have the new belt on, go for a short drive { not to far} just enough to warm up the belt .

the new belt will probably stretch a bit and power steering will start to whine

so then you tighten the adjusting bolt up to get tension back on the belt
