G60 Boost Leak

Recommended Posts

Hi Peeps

Need some advice from a G60 expert!!! Bought a G60 recently(another thread) Ive had low boost on MFA, 500 @ idle and 1450-1500 at 6K. Well Ive spent a few hours going over the motor for obvious leaks and faults to no real success to be honest until today. The motor is fitted with the Rallye U bend and FMIC, I noticed some oil residue at the charger mounting point next to the oil dipstick and could feel a positive airflow. I found that the Rallye U bend had been misfitted, It was wedged between a spacer for the mounting bracket (next to dipstick)which prevented it fitting flush,Anyway spacer correctly located and U bend refitted and tightened. Retried and it seemed to have cured the leak. :D Unfortunetly found another leak at the joining hose from the U bend and the FMIC, removed the headlight etc for access and removed the hose for a further inspection. No holes or damage apparent so refitted it and tested it. Again a flow could be felt after the jubilee clip. :(

I am now thinking of taking the Rallye U bend off to check it fits flush all around the Charger outlet and possibly replace the ajoining hose from the U bend to FMIC as the Jubilee Clip has left a deep recess in it.

Sorry about the long winded approach just trying to explain the whole situation!!!

1. What sealant can be used to reseal the U-bend to Charger(going to the local Chavfords (Halfords) tomorrow. I guess its got to be High Temp?

2. How easy is it to remove the U-bend? What other things have to come out to gain access? I noticed Two Allen bolts hold U-bend on, FWD one is a nightmare to access and get anything on because of the fan?

3.Finally!!! Is there a Samco or equivalent available to replace the U-bend to FMIC only. I dont want to buy a full Boost kit if I can help it.

Thanks peeps all advice welcome. :?

I can't answer questions 2 and 3 as I don't have a fmic fitted. though for sealant - i have used blue silicon gasket sealant (bought from halfords i think) to seal the old silencer box. Worked well.
