PhilThePitcher 0 Posted April 13, 2007 i just bought some new tires, Sumitomo HTR-Z from tirerack.com. they are actaully very nice tires for a very good price. anyway, my last ones were ruined due to poor alignment and my question is... can i set toe in the rear-end or is it non-adjustable? thanks
Supercharged 2 Posted April 13, 2007 Technically it's not adjustable (or meant to be) but you can get correction shims from VW...
double-6s 0 Posted April 13, 2007 I thought it could be adjusted at the rear? Obviously not. Even on a vr?
Yandards 0 Posted April 14, 2007 I thought it could be adjusted at the rear? Obviously not. Even on a vr? VR is no different to the rest of the range when it comes to rear beam adjustment. As supercharged already said, shims but you might struggle to find them, stealth is your best bet. It is possible to unbolt the brackets each side as these have some very small adjustment on them but I wouldn't as they are factory set and a PITA to get back to where they need to be. I would get a recommendation of a place that does a good job of 4 wheel alignment, that should show any issues you may have with the rear beam. (Always possible the car has had a knock and the rear beam is a bit bent)
PhilThePitcher 0 Posted April 14, 2007 i'm a tech and have access to all the alignment equipment so that shouldn't be a problem. i'm familiar with shims and they can be a PITA, but thanks for the info
