LCD panel fooked

as above, the clocks/lcd panel is part showing the miles & clock..

 

its a warm day car was parked at mates working on his VR, went to start it & the lcd gone all pete tong.. disconnected battery no change.. the lcd panel is fooked..

 

any ideas? can the elements or something be replace?? or is it gona be a complete replacement of clocks??

 

can late clocks be fitted to an early rado?

 

only gutting thing is wanted the orignal clocks to stay.. aiming for 200k!! 8)

hello mate.. no.. but if it was a fuse none of the lcd would work?? or would it?? only some of its working.. you cant make out all the digits..

 

I'll post a pic up when I get the chance.. parked it up.. use the GTI instead :lol:

all you should need to do is dismantle the clocks, give the contacts on the back of the lcd screen a bit of a wipe with a cotton bud and some clean or distilled water (i used cd lense cleaner) dry it off and re-assemble, and it will be fine, its a common problem on mk2 and rado MFA displays.

Yes, the rubber covered contacts on the top of the screens may have come slightly loose, so clean them up and refit, ensuring you press tehm all teh way down, nice and evenly.

SAme thing happens to mine. Sometimes she show 150,000 something miles and sometimes the truth.......
