If it's the same as the VR6 one, then it's a 30 min job.

Remove boot carpet

Remove black cover plate

Remove large white lock ring

Disconnect hoses and wiring

Reach in the tank, grab the pump, twist and pull

Fit new pump

Off you go

Sounds like its the external pump, it hangs under the rear right floor next to the filter. Easy to get at but all the fixings will probably be corroded to b*****y. And it will sick up fuel when you dis it which you'll have to clean up

just to let everyone know so far, i took car to local garage, (had no choice)to change external fuel pump and filter as noise was getting louder and car was jerking badly when in lower gears.

Well, after 3 days left at MD Repairs, Deal, and £220 pounds replacing fuel pump and filter my car still has not been solved!!!!

Drove ok for 2 days after work done, but now back in garage to sort out as noisy pump and jerking.

I'm well ******* off. They seem to have no clue still. Say there seems to be a blockage in fuel system. Asked me to get hold of an owners manual for them to see fuel system layout!!!!!

Contacted Corrado CLub GB for advice who say either fuel vaporisation system or 2nd fuel pump in fuel tank!!

Anyone got any more advice or where I could get hold of fuel system diagrams on the internet for the stupid mechanics to refer to!!

Any help appreciated.

That is the lift pump in the fuel tank. Mine did the same. Changed lift pump at a cost of about £30 and all is quiet. Your garage should have changed that first. The noise is the main pump struggling to suck fuel up out of the petrol tank, hence the name for the other fuel pump(lift pump). After fitting you may have some air in lines, so car may be jerky for a while till it works its way out. Hope you get it sorted. c ya...

yup, lift pump, common problem on the valvers (is yours a 2.0 16v Or a VR6??).

EDIT: Ha , I said common problem, what I mean is that this can often happen, especially when the car has done in excess of 100,000 miles. So not really a weakness or a problem then  .

Probably a good idea to replace the main one too anyway, as the extra strain (working without the lift pump) usually sh@gs it.

It really annoys me that what is a common, simple problem, is always mis-diagnosed by so called specialists. :x Bet you they don't even know there is a pump in the fuel tank...
