Definitive G60 alignment answer wanted

Recommended Posts

yep, crank pulley only fits one way as well but there is a bit of play in it only a few mm each way but enough to put you a tooth out!

ok, if you're certain that the timing marks are out on the flywheel (having tested it with a screwdriver/rod in the no.1 cylinder as I described before) then someone's fitted the wrong flywheel to your engine at some point... That's the only way that it can be wrong.

Bugger :-( so am I right in thinking that I wont ever get the timing right with this flywheel then? As mentioned I set it up on the pulleys and although its quick I would like it set up properly at some point.

make your own mark... use the screwdriver method above and you'll be able to find TDC pretty accurately... ;)

Cheers Henny :-D

Riley looks like we have an answer!

I probably wont get around to doing mine for a while as

I dont have a timing gun, but let me know how you get on

doing yours if you decide to remark your crank and time it

up that way!

Aye,

I timed mine up at the flywheel the other day...it showed the crank pully as being out so i put a new mark on it inline with the fly...

Got it bang on 6deg btdc, definately pulls better on the motorway.

Problem persists though...

Neil.
