help with rear disc replacments

Recommended Posts

hello i have just spent around 5 hours trying to sort out a problem with my rear breaks .

i got rear discs , calipers, hand break cables and bearings wich i got from gsf .

then having got the first disc off and then spotted some thing i was unawair of this beeing the abs speed sensor ring .

how do i remove this to replace it on the new discs or do i need to get new ones .?

are they still made ? and are they a vw only part .

has any one else had this problem .

regards adam

Its just pushed on over the centre of the disc. Its probably rusted on a bit if its been there a while, you need to very carefully lever it off. Get a screwdriver under the inner lip of the abs cage and work round gradually, levering against the disc, it should come eventually. This is the procedure for VR6s, I don't know if all models are the same. Hope this helps.

You really need new ones as they distort very easily... VW always recommend when buying new discs - £10 and should be instock as it's a common mk4 part...

Get Wheel bearings from VW too - the cheap jap ones GSF sell don't last at all...
