Clutch slave cylinder sticking out and wont go back in

I took the slave cylinder off for an engine change but now cant get it to fit back on. I accidentally pressed the clutch pedal down, so think its pushed the inner part of the cilnder out, can this be pushed back in? i tried to push but is very stiff, do i need to do something to push it back in?

Shouldn't require that much force but maybe open the bleed nipple then re-bleed after you install...

right sorted it, i took the slave cylinder off the car, didnt want to. but this allowed me to push really has down onto the piston, once it got passed a certain point it was really easy to push in. i even accidentally made brake fluid shoot 10ft.

all bolted in now and just need to bleed the system
